Mazón criticizes Sánchez for the "increasing financial pressure" on Valencia following the DANA.

The embattled Valencian president , Carlos Mazón, has not hesitated to once again attack Pedro Sánchez's government over the lack of financial support for the regional administration following the DANA (Restructuring Plan). "I want to denounce the growing situation of suffocation to which we are being subjected," the Popular Party leader asserted this morning, in response to what he considers a lack of support for reconstruction following the DANA (Restructuring Plan), which adds to the financial problems inherited from the regional government's underfunding .

In addition to the lack of coordination and direct aid , the Valencian president criticized the government for not approving the extraordinary regional liquidity fund to offset the deficit , as it had done in previous years, at a particularly critical time for the Generalitat due to the additional costs following the flood disaster.

"The lack of fair funding is compounded by the lack of the extraordinary regional liquidity fund , which at this point has still not been approved in May, when it should have been approved in December." Mazón, who paradoxically asserted at the beginning of his speech that his government prefers to keep quiet about the catastrophe, considered that the central government is already putting "our public social protection system at serious risk ."

The regional leader insisted that "the Generalitat cannot continue to assume responsibility almost alone as it has done until now and with no resources other than simply borrowing , because our children will pay for this, and surely by now our grandchildren."

Mazón, whose administration is at the center of a judicial investigation for failing to provide advance warnings about the floods , once again cited his management of the aid as an example. According to his figures, the Generalitat (Catalan government) has already allocated 2.302 billion euros to both emergency and reconstruction works and aid for those affected .

"In direct aid alone , the Generalitat is currently processing more than 165,000 applications , of which we have already resolved 86%," he noted, adding that "the Generalitat has already paid out almost 50% of the aid requested, while the Spanish Government remains stuck at 14%."

Without joint commission

Although Mazón called the event to present new aid through the DANA (National Development Plan), much of his speech focused on criticizing the lack of coordination with the central government and the lack of response from the ministries to his requests, such as excluding aid from tax payments and other measures.

"I reiterate my opposition to the central government's refusal to create a joint committee to coordinate and pool efforts to avoid duplication and effectively co-direct actions," he emphasized, comparing this situation to the La Palma volcano eruption , where he asserted that the joint committee was created in 11 days, while it has yet to be established after the DANA in Valencia.

"The Generalitat Valenciana, therefore, all citizens of the Valencian Community, have zero non-refundable aid for our public healthcare, our public education, our public social services, or the infrastructure of the Generalitat Valenciana," he insisted.
